The Issues

For generations New Yorkers of all stripes knew that the Democratic Party was the party of “the working man” and of commonsense solutions. It was the party that knew how to make sure the garbage got picked up and the potholes filled and of safe clean streets, good schools and a better tomorrow. 

The Democratic party was in the vanguard on civil rights and on things like caring about clean air and water and the little guy.

Some Democrats got labeled liberal democrats because they really cared about issues like due process and the first amendment and freedom of speech. Some got labeled conservative democrats because they fought for the trade unions and uniformed services and made sure we took care of our veterans. Some were pegged as independent democrats because they refused to take their marching orders from the old- time party bosses and were more focused on delivering for their constituents that party politics.

All these Democrats loved our City and our Country even if they believed there was more work to do and progress to be made in areas like equal rights. None of them wanted to throw the baby out with the bath water or burn the house down.

Unfortunately, the party of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John Fitzgerald Kennedy has been infiltrated and commandeered by self-styed Socialist Democrats who do not believe that our City and our Country has any redeeming values. 

Instead of recognizing the progress our party has made year in and out in terms of civil rights, woman’s rights, reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, union rights and ultimately the quality of life of all they want to burn it all down.
